Remember to build rapport with leads before you ask them to buy from you. 

Responding to your lead will depend on what they have written to you in the first instance.

STEPS TO RESPONDING TO AN ENQUIRY VIA DM

👉Greetings and Personal connection in your tone of voice. 

👉Acknowledge and validate something that they have talked about in their initial message.

👉Ask about their vision for the photo shoot and/or why they are having their shoot at this time in their life. 

👉Share your experience in a way that isn’t salesy and you may also want to show them some of your work that is similar to their vision (could be location or same type of family unit). 

👉Let them know your upcoming availability and mention specific dates. Also create a bit of FOMO as you don’t want to have too many available spots that you don’t seem sought after. 

👉Ask them if they have checked out the prices and packages on your website. If they haven’t, you can let them know how much your starting prices for family packages are and what the inclusions are. 

👉Depending on the genre of photography, you may need to invite them to have a Zoom call or phone call with you to see if it’s a good fit. 

👉Encourage the next step for the lead to take action. This is called a CTA (Call To Action) and sign off with a friendly close. 

EXAMPLE OF A LEAD/ENQUIRY:

Hi Belle, 

I’ve been following your work for a while and I love your style. I haven’t had family shots done in years and I’m a bit hesitant as my kids are wild. We live close to the beach and I was thinking about doing a shoot there but not sure. Do you have any availability coming up?

EXAMPLE OF A RESPONSE:

Hey Peggy, 

Awesome to connect with you and thank you for following my work, I really love what I do and taking photos of families. Our kids grow up so quickly don’t they? 

Ahhhh I totally hear you about having kids who are a bit wild (mine are wildlings), it’s normal to feel a bit apprehensive about booking in a family photo shoot but I love child-led sessions and I’ve had loads of experience in kid wrangling and making the shoot super fun, easy and stress-free.

Considering you live close to the beach, we could shoot at your local beach, especially if your kids are familiar with the area and feel comfortable there? 

I have 2 spots left for June, Saturday 15th and Sunday 29th so let me know if either of these dates work for you. 

I’m not sure if you’ve had a squizz at my packages on my website yet, my family photography packages start from $550 and depending on which package you choose there are different inclusions. If it’s easier to jump on a call, I can take you through which package might be suited to your family’s needs. I also have flexible payment plan options too.
